About 12 GPHA securities attacked GIS officers at Tema harbor last night 13/05/2024.
Reports coming in from MPS indicates that a group of GPHA security numbering about 12 entered the office of Ghana Immigration Service MPS at about 20:00hrs to pick up two officers by names Insp. Benjamin Nketia and AICO II Clement Boadu for questioning after a misunderstanding that occurred during their routine vessel checks on MSC DYMPHNA.
According to reports, at about 19:35hrs GPHA security wanted to search the officers upon completion of their work on the vessel. However Insp Nketia made it clear that they can search their bags and however rejected their quest to search the individual officers because he claimed under no circumstance can a MALE search a FEMALE officer. This however did not go down well with the GPHA Security which resulted in trading of insults and physical harassment.
After the dust had settled on the vessel, at about 20:00hrs, a group of 12 GPHA security officers later stormed the office to issue arrest of the said officers for their refusal to be searched. This was met by heavy resistance from the GIS officers. This again brought about chaos between the two institutions resulting in the tearing apart of AICO II Boadu uniform. No properties were damaged
