ABOUT OSEI KWAME DESPITE
Osei Kwame Despite known nationwide as Despite was born on the 2nd of February 1962 Agona Wiamoase, in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
Despite is an entrepreneur and businessman who is having experience in the radio industry and a background in music composition.
According to him,In the Central Region of Ghana, in Dunkwa-Offinso, he started out as a merchant, peddling things like padlocks, feeding bottles, and music cassettes. Following several years of financial hardship in the rural areas, he and his associates moved to Lagos, Nigeria.
Along with other Ghanaians who had left Nigeria because of political upheaval there, he returned to Ghana in 1983. All he had when he returned home was a chainsaw. With the chainsaw, he launched a timber contracting company, but on his first business trip, a falling tree destroyed it. After a while, he started selling cassette cassettes and then expanded his company.
He entered radio in order to promote Ghanaian culture and the local music scene. He also formed peace fm in the year 1999. Peace fm broadcast in the Akan language made the station popular and gained more listeners because Akan is a Ghanaian Language.
